Making a Great Impression

Did you know that it takes only 7 seconds to make an impression? It is true. As we all know, this is a tough job market, and making a good impression is all the more important. When going to an interview, it is very important to make sure your appearance is clean and professional. Making sure you shower and that your hair is combed and done. Wearing professional attire is also very important. For men, wearing a nice pair of slacks and a nice shirt and tie as well as dress shoes should suffice. Women, should wear a nice pair of pants or a skirt with a nice top or a dress and dress shoes. Clothes should be pressed and not revealing. If you do not have professional clothing, The Salvation Army and Goodwill, both carry professional clothing in all of their stores, as well as shoes and ties. Lay low on the cologne or perfume just a light spray is good. Makeup should be light and fresh and wearing minimal jewelery is best. Greeting the interviewee with a nice firm handshake and a smile is a great way to make a great first impression.
