It Was A Fabulous Day!!!

We had a great Free Cone Day 2009. We served over 4200 scoops of ice cream. The weather held out, the wind was a bit chilly, but overall it was a great day. We had great volunteers and we deeply appreciate all that they have done for us. We were lucky enough to scoop for the children at the Children's Hospital, which was a wonderful experience. We met many families of the children who are patients, and I must say they are the most resilient people I have ever met. Even though they are living the life that many of us parents fear, their resilience and optimism they have while being faced with such a hard bump in the road is amazing. They appreciate everyday they have with their children, whether it is good or bad. These are life experiences that should remind us that whether we are having a bad day or worrying about mundane things, there are children that are looking out the window of their hospital rooms, who someday dream they can be down there amongst the crowd, and no matter who or where they are, they will shine because they have faced life's toughest battle and now they appreciate every rainy day and every leaf that falls. So not only was this a day to celebrate Ben & Jerry's dedication to their customers, for me it was also a day to remind us to enjoy the small things and to make the most out of what we have, stop and smell the roses.
